YAY! Happy Vegan MoFo'ing

That's it - it's here!
The annual event vegans across the globe look forward to each year. That time is upon us once again when the word October is obsolete from our vocabulary and is replaced by the much more fun and funky words of Vegan MOFO! Yeah baby! I was going to have a theme going on this year but couldn't decide what to settle on so there will be a few themes all in all, which I realise is a pretty lame theme so the theme this year is there is no theme!! But there will be LOTS of Bread baking. Being a new owner of a Bread machine and a complete noob when it comes to making Bread I reckon this will give me the perfect opportunity to learn the skill that is Bread making. I have to say that making Bread does scare the beejaysus outta me. One failed attempt a few years ago and countless words of advice/warnings from numerous makers of Bread in the past has just left me feeling so daunted by the whole concept. Well not anymore. I bought a secondhand Bread machine and we are going to get well acquainted over the next few weeks and I shall share my joys and woes with the blogosphere - you lucky lucky people. GO VEGAN! GO MoFo!!

Hurrah! I am glad to see you :)

I don't know if I am oranised enough to have any sort of theme. LOL.

I bought a breadmaker several years ago. I was using it a lot at first, but it has been neglected of late. So go inspire me to dust it off. ;)

Oooh... a bread machine! Me wants!!

I love (the concept of) making bread. Too bad my loaves all turn out to be 5 pound bricks. :(

Maybe a bread machine is the answer?

Happy MoFo!

I am so excited that you are going to be experimenting with a bread machine! I only use mine for pizza dough and just yesterday I was thinking I should learn to make bread in it. I can't wait to see what you learn.

Yay mofo!

Honestly the best way to get good a breadmaking is to just make a lot of bread! You slowly learn to get a "feel" for the dough. It's really not scary at all. :)

Thanks for the sorbet prescription! I'm so glad to find another heathen vegan. :) Enjoy all your bread--if a loaf flops, just make croutons or feed the birds! Go MoFo!

I loved my bread machine. When it died I was horrified but I'm getting along so far without it. I'll be looking forward to your bread-making adventures. Good luck and don't give up. I learned to use my machine with "Bread Machine Magic." Great book!

Have fun learning all about making bread! I have a bread machine, too, but I haven't used it in years...

As a seasoned baker of leaden bricks of wholemeal toothsomeness, the best advice I can give you is: gluten powder. 2 tsp per loaf = lovely fluffy bread. But you have a breadmaker - my breadmaking improved vastly when I started using dough hooks on my dough. Your breadmaker should do all that jazz for you, so you'll be fine, girl!

Happy MoFo'ing for you too! You should try baking the vegan cupcakes, they're so good. But I understand you, there are so many things that I still didn't try. Let's see how October goes :)

can't wait to see what you cook up!

Oh I love bread. I think you've inspired my next VeganMofo post - whole wheat no knead bread. I swear it's easier than a breadmaker and it turns out amazing, crusty bread. Good luck! ANd happy mofo-ing!
